| colspan="3" | [[U 154]] sichtete am 12.04.1942 um 14:17 Uhr einen Tanker und setzte zum Angriff vor. Am 13.04.1942 um 05:25 Uhr schoß Kölle einen Zweierfächer auf das Schiff. Die Empire Amethyst wurde hinten 40 getroffen und fing sofort an zu brennen. Nach einer Explosion brach der Tanker auseinander. Das Heckteil sank nach fünf Minuten, der Rest des Schiffes sank nach 10 Minuten und hinterließ einen riesigen Ölfleck. Es gab keine Überlebende. Der Kapitän, 40 Besatzungsmitglieder und 6 Artilleristen kamen ums Leben.

Ursache im Detail
U 154 sichtete am 12.04.1942 um 14:17 Uhr einen Tanker und setzte zum Angriff vor. Am 13.04.1942 um 05:25 Uhr schoß Kölle einen Zweierfächer auf das Schiff. Die Empire Amethyst wurde hinten 40 getroffen und fing sofort an zu brennen. Nach einer Explosion brach der Tanker auseinander. Das Heckteil sank nach fünf Minuten, der Rest des Schiffes sank nach 10 Minuten und hinterließ einen riesigen Ölfleck. Es gab keine Überlebende. Der Kapitän, 40 Besatzungsmitglieder und 6 Artilleristen kamen ums Leben.
