Der zweite Torpedo, um 15:26 Uhr, traf die FORT ST. NICOLAS hinten. Der Dampfer stoppte, blies Dampf ab, sackte tiefer. U 410 mußte vor einem weiteren Dampfer wegtauchen und hörte um 17:13 Uhr Sinkgeräusche. Es gab keine Verluste. Der Kapitän, 48 Besatzungsmitglieder, 14 Artilleristen und 4 Passagiere wurden von britischen Landungsbooten gerettet und in Salerno (Italien) an Land gesetzt.
