− | | | + | | colspan="3" | [[U 160]] sichtete am 11.11.1942 um 07:00 Uhr die Rauchfahne eines Frachters und lief zum Angriff an. Um 08:01 Uhr schoß Lassen einen Torpedo auf das Schiff. Dieser Torpedo traf die City of Ripon achtern. Der Dampfer sackte tiefer, funkte, sank aber nicht. Der Fangschuß mit zwei Torpedos, um 08:11 Uhr, traf das Schiff erneut. Nach einer starken Detonation versank der Dampfer. 52 Besatzungsmitglieder und 4 Artilleristen kamen ums Leben. Der Kapitän, 18 Besatzungsmitglieder und 3 Artilleristen wurden vom brasilianischen Dampfer Midosi gerettet und in Port of Spain (Trinidad) an Land gesetzt. |
