2. U-Flottille Die 2. U-Flottille entstand im 01.01.1940 durch die Zusammenlegung der U-Flottille Saltzwedel und der U-Flottille Hundius in Wilhelmshaven. Nach der Besetzung von Frankreich, wurde die 2. U-Flottille, als Frontflottille, im Juni 1941 nach Lorient verlegt. Die Flottille erhielt die Feldpostnummer M - 25 522. Sie wurde im September 1944 aufgelöst. Die im Spätsommer 1944 noch einsatzfähigen Boote verlegten bis August 1944 nach Norwegen. Der Flottillen-Chef in Lorient, Ernst Kals wurde nach der Verlegung der noch einsatzfähigen Boote Chef des U-Stützpunktes Lorient und des Sicherungsverbandes Lorient. U-Boote aber kamen von Lorient aus nicht mehr zum Einsatz.
